Let’s Go Glamping At Ivy Grange Farm

Experience camping in style at this idyllic Suffolk campsite.

What comes to mind when you think of camping? It can be cold and wet at the best of times and with the potential for your sleeping bag becoming creepy crawly infested by morning, it’s not surprising many people would prefer a night between four proper walls. But what if you could mix the adventure of camping with the luxuries of a hotel?

In the heart of the scenic Suffolk countryside, the luxury glamping site at Ivy Grange Farm, near Halesworth, allows guests to do just this. The four quaint yurts on site, as well as the new Shepherd’s Hut, are each their own perfect hideaway.

When staying at Ivy Grange Farm, I chose to spend my night under canvas in Yellowhammer. Named after the bird that frequents flies among the farm’s hedgerows and large enough to accommodate a family of five – or simply someone who both over packs and enjoys starfishing the whole night – this yurt is the perfect place to call home.

A comfy bed, which I couldn’t wait to curl up in, was waiting for me, while twinkling fairy lights and a cosy wood-burner added to the ambience and up-cycled table and chairs, a dresser and wardrobe complimented the attractively mismatched décor.

The campfire pit outside will keep you warmer under the inky black sky than any amount of layers ever will, while the accommodation’s own gas stove, crockery and kitchen equipment meant a hearty cooked breakfast – of bacon sandwiches and scrambled eggs – could be easily whipped up the next morning if I so fancied it. And of course I did.

If you thought a night at a campsite also meant spending the next day avoiding dirty communal showers, you’d be wrong. Even during my short stay, my morning had to include the site’s luxurious woodland shower. With hot water from the mains, the outdoor showers are an almost tropical delight (and are sure to have you imitating a certain shampoo advert as soon as you step in).

Come sun, snow or showers, your experience at Ivy Grange Farm will be one to remember. Not only are your nights guaranteed to be peaceful, your days are promised to be full of plenty of things to do. Once you’ve recharged your batteries overnight and then refuelled your body in the morning, there are bikes to borrow, local canoes and boats to hire and, for those who would prefer being in the water rather than on it, plenty of idyllic wild swimming spots to explore.
